Conclusion
This photoblog (May 26th to July 6th) was an art therapy method, a way to achieve silence into my mind.
Some things made this process harder. Those were the quantity of music I took with me and the lack of an internet connection. At the begging, I thought that only my old compact camera, the terrible notebook monitor and time pressure on photoshoots were going to obstruct me, but I was wrong.
It is difficult trying to match a song with a photo without actually listening to it; so, I used only the songs I had. Therefore, you will notice repetitions of artists and music bands and a sense of confusion about the song choice.
The lack of internet connection at my apartment is an obvious disadvantage if you consider the the quality of internet cafes as workstations and the pressure on time.
I would like to write down some notes about the first issue, the quantity of music. Except from the stated above, this situation drove me to an interesting observation:
There are three ways to combine the visual (photography, video etc.) with the audio (music), the visual with the written (script, poem etc.):
- Picture leads. Picture is the main point of reference and you have to match (or create) the music or the script.
- Music or Script leads. Music or Script (music and lyrics at this case) is the main point of reference and you have to match the picture.
- Combination result leads. You make serious post-work about the project in order to achieve the best way to express your visualization, combining the visual, the acoustic and the script.
In "Exams - The Blog" case, I followed exclusively the first way. I can say that the result is far from perfection or even mediocrity, but as I said before, this photostory isn't about perfection. It is an inner goal, a way to achieve silence into mind.
