ACDsee Pro - Exif and IPTC problematic management

I am checking on ACDsee Pro after two major Releases. Same problematic exif and iptc management.

  1. Exif time still tends to show incorrectly due to UTC conversions (many topics about this)
  2. Every little change or info addition to exif/iptc destroys exif entries (eg exif version, flashpix version, etc) resulting in <Invalid data offset> , bad IFD0 directory and random other errors.

7z shell icons

7z is a must for de/compressing files. For years winrar was my choice. I am a perfectionist about the GUI and I could not stand the 7z interface and shell icons.

My use of file compressing/archiving software is simple, compressing jpgs and tiffs, archiving website projects etc. I can safely say now that the 7z barely wins on those tasks (a few kilo to 1 mega or more - this is based on usage simple observations and not on scientific comparison).

I wouldn 't switch from winrar for the GUI thing, but where the better 7z performance didn' t the "open source" convinced me. OK, I can live with the 7z file manager GUI, but what about the shell icons?

Photography Club of Larissa - the blogs and the website

I am a member at the Photography Club of Larissa for a few months now. The atmosphere is nice and I finally found people to talk about photography like geeks.

My presence there brought some changes, of course... :)

  • A new site is being in development (fll from the greek initials [f]Φωτογραφική [l]Λέσχη [l]Λάρισας)
  • Andreas Katsakos made the first step and created a photoblog. Other members followed him (we are talking about guys who shot exclusively film and only recently switched to digital. Technology was not an issue till the last couple of years)

Do schools kill creativity?

Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining (and profoundly moving) case for creating an education system that nurtures creativity, rather than undermining it.

With ample anecdotes and witty asides, Robinson points out the many ways our schools fail to recognize -- much less cultivate -- the talents of many brilliant people.

"We are educating people out of their creativity," Robinson says. The universality of his message is evidenced by its rampant popularity online.

$1 Image Stabilizer For Any Camera - Lose The Tripod

Don't be a slave to your tripod. Build this stabilizer and see how much better you photos and video can be. Get professional results. This instructional video shows you how to build your own stabilizer in 5 minutes for less than $1. It is super light weight and folds up small enough to fit in your pocket. With this stabilizer, you can hand-hold your camera with shutter speeds at least 3 stops slower than without. It works just as well with video cameras.

(some Greek: σταθεροποιητής - "τρίποδο" φωτογραφικής μηχανής με μηδενικό κόστος και απόλυτη μεταφερσιμότητα...)
