the Digital Bleach Bypass

the Digital Bleach Bypass

In addition to the previous post, we will examine how to "bleach bypass" in Photoshop.

Bleach bypass, also known as skip bleach or silver retention, is an optical effect which entails either the partial or complete skipping of the bleaching function during the processing of a color film. By doing this, the silver  is retained in the emulsion along with the color dyes. The result is a black and white image over a color image. The images usually would have reduced saturation and exposure latitude, along with increased contrast and graininess. It usually is used to maximal effect in conjunction with a one-stop underexposure.

the Digital Cross Processing

the Digital Cross Processing

I was the Cinematographer (Director of Photography) of the "This is Jazz" video clip. One thought on the general visual feeling/filter was the cross processing.

Cross processing (sometimes abbreviated to Xpro) is the procedure of deliberately processing photographic film in a chemical solution intended for a different type of film. The effect was discovered independently by many different photographers often by mistake in the days of C-22 and E-4.

But we are on the digital era. How to achieve a cross processing effect in Photoshop?

drupal views rewrite output to invalid markup

While I was testing the fmag.gr with the w3c validators, I saw several errors about

<h2> and <h5>

elements that where inside <a hrefs. I immediately spotted the problem on the node titles.

More specific: page views at fmag.gr are using fields. The field "node title" has a rewritten output to

<h5>[title]</h5>

and the "link to full node" checked.

Further investigation revealed that views module "links to full node" the whole "rewritten output" and not just the variable [title]. Therefore, the html output was

<h5><a href="...">[title]</a></h5>

auto-switch (mobile) theme based on User-Agent

I dislike the idea of auto-switching to mobile themes in general. I want the user to have the choice considering the fact that smartphones have now more power, bigger screens are wi-fi capable (no 3G costs).

Sometimes though, it is a good practice. Especially in the case of arstechnica.com, which has a design-perfect mobile website. If you are developing websites using Drupal, there are some good modules: Mobile Tools and Browscap.

For simpler constructions like photodiary.gr you can code simple and clean.

Porn Industry and the iPad... oh and no flash! and no...

Porn industry finds the iPad sexy http://www.orgasmatrix.com/blog/noticias/ipad-erotico/ - http://fleshbot.com/5516249/the-ipad-gets-sexy-with-ryan-keely and sets hard questions to be answered http://fleshbot.com/5458278/will-the-ipad-change-the-way-we-consume-porn ...

Go to a porn website using Safari (and forget about sites using Flash-based streaming video)

I never checked on iPad (I like Mac OS but I can't say the same for the Apple Hardware Marketing), but is that true? no flash? I find them capable of locking the "flash" down to firmware.

Lets search about it
